Meet the team

The Brand and Marketing team works across Action for Children, creating visuals, graphics, logos, films and much more.

Wherever you work in Action for Children, we're here to guide and support you. We facilitate the delivery of your marketing and creative work. Put simply, we get things done for you.

Sheona Michie: Head of Brand & Marketing

For over 20 years Sheona has worked on brand projects and integrated campaigns across the globe – from Universal Pictures, Accenture, Aeroflot, Diageo, Disney, NatWest, Nike, Russian Standard and Vodafone, to government projects such as 5-a-day working with the NHS. Sheona moved to the charity sector in 2011 to lead the brand refresh at Cancer Research UK. After a short spell at ActionAid, she swapped actions to work closer to home, joining Action for Children in 2012. Her husband is still confused about which Action she works for.

Deanne Palmer: Marketing Manager

Across private and public sectors, Deanne develops and delivers effective marketing strategies that help businesses grow. Before joining Action for Children in 2008, Deanne worked with UK Trade & Investment in the North East of England to successfully develop local business links with international trading partners. Prior to this, Deanne specialised within the IT industry with partners such as Oracle, AT&T and IBM whilst at Typex Group and PrismTech. It’s no surprise to anyone who’s worked with Deanne that she won the IBM Platinum Award for Innovative Marketing in 2005.

Jo Cullen: Marketing Manager

Jo has considerable marketing experience in financial services and the charity sector (making her both ruthless and kind). Working in the commercial sector led her to account manage charities such as Great Ormond Street, Amnesty International and Diabetes UK. When head hunted by the charity sector, she never looked back despite the lack of large expense accounts and chauffeur driven cars. She has bundles of experience across product development, fundraising and trading, new business and tenders. She likes to use the word strategic a lot and supports Chelsea but this doesn’t make her a bad person. Ask her anything you like, she may not know the answer but she will always know someone else who does.
