Using photos

Using photos

We have three ways we like to use photos.

The photo can go right to the edges of the page

When the photo goes right to the edge of the page, we use our line device to make a rough border around the edge of the page. You can see how to do this in our line section.

Using a smaller picture

When we use smaller pictures in the design, we give them a roughly drawn edge, which is created in the same way as our line border.

You can also emphasise these photos by using our line device to draw around them, almost like a doodle.

Using cut-outs

Cut-outs can work very well, especially when combined with our illustration style. We keep the edge of the cut-out loose and flowing, so it has the same feel as our line device.

Another good design element is to put a roughly drawn shape around the cut-out, using one of our brand colours.
