Using colour to make text stand out
We have two ways we like to make a piece of writing stand
out.
The first way is to put a coloured box behind the text, just
like we've done in the navigation bar above - we've used a yellow
box so you always know which section of the toolkit you're in.
The second way is to use one of our secondary colours for the
text itself. You should be very careful about using colours for
both the writing and the background though, as this may make the
writing hard to read.
As you can see below, red writing against a grey background is
easy to read, but green writing against a yellow background is very
hard.
If you want to put a colour behind writing, then you should
refer to the colour type chart.
